I have a question for our readers out there. Ok, maybe two questions. 1) Is there anything right now that you wish you could be doing more of? And, 2) What’s your plan for making that happen? The first question is easy to answer. EASY! “Is there something right now I wish I could be doing more of? Of course! Reading, biking, spending more time with the kids, get in shape, get that patch of dirt in the yard turned into a garden...” on and on. These are pretty generic examples, as each of us has our own desires and goals, but you get the picture.

Detox baths are nothing new. They are long renowned for their ability to relax, rejuvenate, and remove the body of stresses and toxins. Historically, detox baths and the ability of heat and hot water to relieve the body of toxins have been valued in Asian culture for centuries. Whether it's just the end of long day, after a strenuous workout, after injury, exposure to chemicals or radiation or germs, or fighting a virus, a detox bath can be very helpful! Our skin is our largest organ, and not only can it be used to expel toxins from our body, but it can also absorb what we put on our skin, both good and bad! So avoid those chemicals in your bath! You can lightly exfoliate your skin before your bath to help the absorption factor. Here are four simple DIY detox baths that you can utilize! The Essential Oil Bath The Essential Oil bath is customizable according to what are you are needing. You will need: 1 cup of Epsom Salt 1/2 cup of Baking Soda And 10 drops of Essential Oils mixed with 1 TB of carrier oil or Milk Use 1 drop of essential oil for an infant and 2-3 drops for a child Some suggestions of essential oils to try are: Lavender Oil - Sedative, Calming, Anti-Inflammatory Grapefruit - Uplifting Peppermint - Brain Fog, Fatigue Chamomile - Headache, Digestive Upset Or clary sage oil, rose oil, geranium oil, frankincense oil, sandalwood oil, eucalyptus oil, and conifers such as cedar oil, fir oil, pine oil, pinon pine essential oil, spruce oil, and juniper oil to name a few. Just draw your bath, drop your essential oils into your carrier oil and pour into your cup of epsom salt. Then pour the epsom salt and baking soda into the hot water. This will make sure that the essential oils are diluted and dispersed well. After your soak, you can rinse off in cool water to wash the toxins off your skin. I love water kefir! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE! I was never a soda drinker, so it isn't the carbonation that gets me. But I love the way I feel when I drink water kefir. I don't notice the same physical benefits on milk kefir, but it could just be because I don't drink as much as I do when I'm drinking water kefir. I love the way my digestive system feels, the way my skin clears, the energy boost I get, the way my sleep-deprived induced brain fog seems to clear... It just makes me happy! What is Kefir Kefir is a probiotic beverage made with kefir grains. There are two types of grains, milk kefir grains and water kefir grains. Milk kefir grains can be used with cow milk, goat milk, or coconut milk. Water kefir grains can be used with sugar water, juice, or coconut water. Kefir grains consist of bacteria and yeast existing in a symbiotic relationship. The term kefir grains describes the look of the culture only. Kefir grains contain no actual "grains" such as wheat, rye, etc. What is the advantage of taking Kefir instead of a probiotic supplement? Fermented products such as kefir are considered functional foods because they offer enzymes, pre-digested nutrients, amino acids, vitamins, minerals, calories/energy and billions of probiotics. Probiotic pill supplements contain just one or a select variety of bacteria, and usually that's it. It's always better to eat something in its whole form when possible, because each part makes the other more digestible. Why is kefir good for your health? It is loaded with valuable enzymes, easily digestible sugars, beneficial acids, vitamins and minerals. Water kefir supplies your body with billions of healthy bacteria and yeast strains. Your internal microflora support proper digestion, synthesis of vitamins and minerals, and your immune system by warding off foreign and harmful bacteria, yeast and viruses. It has thus long been known to promote and aid in digestion and overall health. Some studies show it may be anti-mutagenic and help manage free radicals in the body. Folic acid (and B vitamins) increases as the length of the ferment increases. Some people let the strained kefir sit on the counter or the fridge another day to increase the folic acid and B vitamin content before drinking (this will increase the acidity too). We love making our own gluten free bread. Not only does it usually taste better than the bread you get at the store, but I have found it is often cheaper. My husband and I scored an AWESOME deal at thrift store a few months ago, and were able to buy a great, clean, and very new-looking bread machine for like $3! Score! Since I'm often lazy, I was pretty excited about this. Basically, just throw the ingredients together, and boom walla - there's your bread!
We have a few different recipes we have tried and liked over the last few months. This is one we just tried yesterday, and I'm loving it! It is AHH-MAZ-ING with some butter melted on it. For this recipe we used Bob's Red Mill All Purpose Gluten Free Flour. Really, the only reason why I did that, is that I can find it super cheap in the bulk bin items at our health food store, so it comes out cheaper than me mixing together a few different flours. This Bread is about $2.80-$3.00 a loaf for me which is not bad! This past week I caught a mild cold. It started off with a sore throat, that a little Grapeseed Extract, On Guard, and Melaluca seems to take care of fine. But then I came down with runny and yet congested sinuses. I have had my share of sinus infections in the past, and did not want another one. I continued to use my On Guard and Melaluca Essential oils on the back of my neck and spine.
But one night when my sinuses were super congested, I looked up what was good to dry up mucous. Lo and behold, the beautiful Lemon Essential Oil. I immediately mixed the Lemon Essential Oil with some coconut oil, and applied on the bridge of my nose and down behind my ears. Within about 30 minutes, my runny nose had completely dried up and was way less congested. I reapplied and went to bed, and by the morning, my sinuses were pretty much back to normal! So to dry up mucous apply that doTERRA Lemon Essential Oil!! Spring time is almost here!
For those of you who do not live in a tropical climate, I'm sure you are aching for this moment! But with spring, comes flowers, and with flowers, pollen, and with pollen... I always use local raw honey, started BEFORE allergy season to help prevent allergies, but for combating them, here is a great way to take care of allergies naturally using essential oils! Allergy bomb: As created by Dr. David Hill. 2 drops Lemon essential oil .05c per drop retail 2 drops Lavender essential oil .11c per drop retail 2 drops Peppermint essential oil .11c per drop retail Put in a capsule and take internally or rub it on topically. Those with allergy cough add 1 drop Purify essential all on chest .10c per drop retail Enjoy! First off I want to say, this is not my original recipe. If you internet search DIY laundry soap, you will get quite a few different recipes, but they are all pretty similar. This one is the famous Duggars Family recipe, I just adjusted it slightly. Their recipe is as follows: 4 Cups - hot tap water 1 Fels-Naptha soap bar 1 Cup - Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda ½ Cup Borax 10-15 drops Essential Oils This recipe yields 10 gallons! Being that I did not need 10 gallons, I divided this recipe by fourth to to make 2 1/2 gallons instead. Here's my recipe:
