My answer seems to surprise some of them, "YES! We use essential oils every single day."
So what is our family's daily essential oil routine?
- Starting off in the morning, I personally begin with doTERRA's Clear Skin Face Wash, their Clear Skin Roller Bottle blend along with a roller bottle with a blend I put together of Melaleuca, Geranium, and Frankincense which I apply to my face. We brush our teeth with our homemade toothpaste made with essential oils, and use our homemade mouthwash using essential oils.
After breakfast, we take the Lifelong Vitality Pack supplements to start off our day (this has been a huge health benefit for both Jason and I).
I then take my roller bottle blend I made of diluted On Guard and diluted Lemon and Melaleuca and rub it on my little ones on the back of their neck and spine to strengthen their immune systems. I also rub on some Terrashield if they are going out to play and the mosquitoes seem particularly bad.
Depending on the mood I'm in, I put some oils in the diffuser and begin to run that. If we seem to be having a particularly bad day with flies, gnats, or mosquitoes trying to come in the house, I diffuse a blend that has some anti-insect properties in it.
I may roll on some Past Tense for myself or some Balance: two of my favorite blends as I go about my day.
If the kids come in with some cuts or scratches, I spray or rub on my diluted Owie Spray with Lavender, Melaleuca, and Frankincense. A sunburn gets some Lavender and Frankincense sprayed on, and insect bites receive some of my roll on of diluted Lavender and Purify (totally takes away the sting and redness -it's amazing!). If my littlest one begins to get a diaper rash, I apply my blend of coconut oil, lavender, frankincense, and melaleuca on her little bum.
As the evening rolls around and my husband comes home from work, we often apply a little Deep Blue or Deep Blue Rub on his back and neck.
I switch the diffuser to our evening blend for the kids. This includes my air cleansing blend for the vog for Kaelen who's struggled with sleep apnea especially as a result of the vog. This is a blend I created which has Eucalyptus, Lavender, and Lemon in it, or I use my Serenity/Cederwood blend to help my little girl sleep.
I rub on some more diluted On Guard on my little ones before they go to bed (on their feet usually). I apply Kaelen's breathing blend on his throat and neck area which is a roller bottle of diluted Lavender, Lemon, Eucalyptus, and Peppermint. And for my littlest one who is cutting her molars, I apply some diluted Lavender to her feet and her jawline and neck.
If I had a particularly trying day, I have my husband give me a nice AromaTouch massage, or maybe I'll apply some Lavender or use it in a steam shower.
If either my husband or I start to feel the twinge of a cold or sore throat, we gargle with Lemon, On Guard or Oregano (depending on how strong we feel we need it, Lemon being the mildest, Oregano the strongest), or I might put some Lemon and honey in some hot water for a relaxing tea.
If my monthly is going to start soon, I apply some Clary Calm on my uterus area, and some diluted Cypress or Immortelle on the hormone affected varicose veins in my legs.
Of course this daily routine changes slightly when we are fighting a cold, as we add in extra applications of On Guard or use the Flu bomb, or we diffuse On Guard and Breathe then too.
Two other things we used to do daily, but now no longer need to, is my husband used to use Peppermint, Digestzen, and Lemongrass internally when he was healing his digestive system of H. Pylori, candida, and ulcers (this blog post tells that story). I used to use Cypress, Balance, Yang Ylang, and Rosemary daily when I was working on recovering from an autoimmune disease postpartum. But now, neither of us need to do those daily anymore, as both of us have recovered from those issues (yeah!).
So there you have it, our daily routine. We of course add in different oils and blends as needed when different issues come up, but above is our pretty simple day in and out use of essential oils in our family! And just as a little testimony, I can probably count on one hand, the times this year that our family has even "fought off" a cold, let alone actually had a real cold or sickness. We are really enjoying using these essential oils in our quest for sustainable, holistic preventative health.
What oils and blends do you use daily?
