But now let me tell you what it's like from the other side, when you truly are running a business your excited about, and you are looking for a good business partner.
Sheena and I love what we do. L-O-V-E it. It is amazing to see peoples lives changed, people get healthier naturally, and to connect with people on a more personal level. (Just through mailing out samples we have had three separate people tell us they wanted to start crying when they got the package, just because they felt so cared for. That's a great feeling). But we work hard at it. Many hours every day, just the same as any other person starting up a business like a coffee shop.
Let's say Claire started a coffee shop and got too overwhelmed with the work needed to grow her business every day. She very well may start asking around to see if anyone is interested in being a business partner. Somehow to the majority of people this scenario would seem understandable and acceptable. If your not interested you can say no. If you are, you'll start working the business. But somehow when it comes to network marketing and you get asked the question, it's easy to think, "YIKES! I don't want to be part of their voodoo business, whatever it is." At the same It's easy to feel that if asked about being a business partner, the person just wants your business (aka money). For Sheena and I working with doTERRA, this is no more true than thinking that Claire, the coffee shop owner, is asking around about splitting the business because she's trying to get you to buy a cup of coffee.
DoTERRA sells amazing essential oil products. We share for the love of the product and its benefits. There is the possibility of making a business out of sharing about doTERRA essential oils, but the "opportunity" is not what is being sold. A coffee shop sells coffee, the owner is not selling the "opportunity" to to have a business, she is seeking someone who is capable of assisting her make her business grow twice as fast, since twice as much effort and resources could be put into it with two people.
So here is the thing. When Sheena and I look at our business it currently looks like something like this: (this is just a generic image, it doesn't look quite like this)
.
When you just start out growing your business, as with any company, there is only one little person- you. In order to build you need strong entrepreneurial, business minded people, to help you as with any company. Sheena and I have two people who have partnered with us to build a business. And we have an amazing partnership full of mentorship, goals, and the common theme of loving to share the news about essential oils. Each of these have builders that have partnered with them to build a business. BUT- and this is an important point- we are always continuing to look for strong leaders to partner with us in building a business. Just like the coffee shop lady Claire, who hopes to build a strong business.
So if you do hear from us asking "Would you consider teaming up with us as a business builder?" You should take it as a complement. We don't want to sell you, sign you up, or trick you. We just want to take you out to coffee, talk business, and hear your thoughts on it!
